Beat Burnout and Find Your Sunshine: Deborah Mallow’s 6 Steps to Fewer “Bad Days”

Brightening Your Days: KUWTC Chats with Deborah Mallow, the Ray of Sunshine Changing Mindsets

Deborah Mallow is not your average motivational coach. A born-and-bred New Yorker, Deborah has turned her life experiences into a mission: helping people reclaim joy, embrace positivity, and live with intention.

From burnout to breakthroughs, she’s learned firsthand what it takes to replace negative days with ones full of energy, purpose, and laughter.

KUWTC: Deborah, your energy is infectious! Tell us, where did this journey start?

Deborah Mallow: Honestly, it started with burnout. I was a #1-ranked pharmaceutical sales rep—hitting goals left and right—but something inside me was fading. One day, standing on a New York City subway platform, I realized, “If I don’t change, nothing ever will.” That was my turning point. I began reimagining my life—not by forcing positivity, but by choosing a different way to approach each day.

KUWTC: And that led to your book, 6 Steps To Fewer Days That Suck.

Deborah: Exactly. It began as a simple orange folder filled with small habit shifts, mindset exercises, and strategies that helped me feel more joy. Friends and colleagues noticed the change and encouraged me to share it. That folder became a playbook, which became my book, my coaching framework, and the foundation for the Positive Energy Club.

KUWTC: Your philosophy revolves around C.A.R.E. Tell us more.

Deborah: C.A.R.E. stands for Confidence, Awareness, Resilience, and Energy. Confidence is owning your worth; Awareness is noticing your thoughts and habits; Resilience is bouncing back from setbacks; and Energy is choosing a lens that lifts you up. These principles aren’t just theory—I live them daily.

KUWTC: How do you bring this mindset into your home and work life?

Deborah: Home, for me, is where I feel safe, seen, and free. It’s cozy corners, a comfy couch, sunlight pouring through big windows, personal touches that spark gratitude, and my husband nearby. I work and live in Manhattan, where the energy is electric—it keeps me inspired and creative. But home is also where I can just be myself, away from the spotlight.

KUWTC: Any tips for people trying to find inspiration or reclaim positivity?

Deborah: Inspiration can come anywhere. Sometimes it’s a fleeting thought, a book, a conversation, or a walk. The key is to stay open, listen, and create space for joy. And remember: “Choose positive or negative—both are contagious. I choose positive.” It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence and mindful decisions.

KUWTC: If you could host a dream dinner party, what would that look like?

Deborah: I’d host it on the beach in Lagos, Portugal, with my closest friends, family, and colleagues. Fresh food, music in the air, barefoot on the sand, sharing stories, laughing, dancing under the stars. For me, it’s all about the energy—the joy, connection, and serenity that fills the space.

KUWTC: Any final words for our readers?

Deborah: Life’s too short for days that suck. Mindset is everything. Start small, be kind to yourself, and keep choosing joy. May you always find your sunshine—and embrace the sparkle that’s meant for you.
