Neurologist turned Author & Medicine Expert
Dr. Trupti Gokani loves sharing this wisdom with others. She is a Mother of two amazing grown kids and married for almost 30 years and now sharing her story with Keeping Up With the Coast.
KUWTC: You have a unique background from neurology to Eastern medicine. What inspired that shift?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: I wanted to find solutions which Western medicine couldn’t offer. I know ancient medicine worked for me in my toughest time in medical school, thus wanted to share. I opened an integrative neurology center and started writing books!
KUWTC: What part of your story really shaped your purpose and passion for what you do today?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: It is the basis of my story. My own challenges with insomnia in medical school led me down this path to discover ancient medicine. This allowed me to connect with myself and with the divine. My work as a coach, mentor, author, and speaker is to help others find a path which awakens their mind and body and moves them out of their stress personality which holds them back from life!
KUWTC: How would you describe what “home” means to you?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: A place of connection, grounding, and faith in divine surrounded by community.
KUWTC: Can you tell us a bit about your home now?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: Home—it is built to connect with nature and feels very cozy.
KUWTC: You’ve spent much of your life in Chicago. What do you love about it?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: I have been in Chicago my entire life (after being smuggled out of Africa)—grateful for its diversity, lovely neighborhoods, restaurants, and down-to-earth people, yet lots of academic colleagues to keep me motivated to keep growing.
KUWTC: Would you ever consider moving somewhere else?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: No challenge here—love Chicago.
KUWTC: What advice would you give someone about creating their ideal home space?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: You should feel that your home is your sanctuary, your temple. It is where you connect with yourself and others feel connected and safe. It is a space which reflects your energy.
KUWTC: How important is faith and spirituality in your work?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: It is key. Faith is a big piece of my work and I am very spiritual in my coaching.
KUWTC: You’ve stayed very true to yourself and your message over the years. How have you handled challenges along the way?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: I stayed authentic to myself and my truth—sharing ancient medicine when others may not have been ready to hear it. I have always been determined to get this message out as too many are struggling.
KUWTC: What places inspire or restore you most?
Dr. Trupti Gokani: Sedona—spiritual. India—and now, I just love it there!
KUWTC: Where can our readers follow your work and connect with you?
